It started when Kailyn got lost again. The Flareon had gotten used to the inside of the ranch but still wasn't completely sure of the outside area. So when she went outside to explore and didn't take a less directionally challenged companion, well, it wasn't long before she lost sight of the ranch and found her self in an unfamiliar area. Her ears keep alternating from being perched high on her head to catch sounds, to low and pressed against her head from the situation being what it was. She looked around at the trees, hoping to find any thing familiar and finding nothing.

Finally, after debating what to do, Kailyn decided to attempt climbing onto a tree to find a landmark so she moved over to one that looked easy enough. She crouched low on the ground and after a moment of tensing her leg muscles, sprang up into the air. Since she had never tried to climb a tree before though, she wasn't prepared enough. So even though she did managed to touch the first branch easily enough, she wasn't quick enough to wrap her paws around it to keep herself up on it and proceeded to loose her grip and fall.

When she landed on her tail she let out a loud yelp and was quick to move off it. The Flareon stood there waiting for her tail to stop smarting, ears flat on her head, then looked back at the branch with narrowed eyes. Was there a trick to it? What was she doing wrong? These type of thoughts flew through her mind as she stared at it before with a shrug she got ready to try again, this time planning on being faster at grabbing the branch. She crouched, tensed her legs then sprang up again.

This time she missed the branch all together and started falling again. She curled to get ready to attempt a roll when she hit the ground and felt a thin shield of power spring up around her as she instinctively used Protect. It turned out that she didn't need it though as before she could hit the ground her body froze in mid air. Her eyes wide she looked around before seeing a Gastly floating by a tree to her right, glowing with more then just his regular ectoplasmic gas. Slowly she floated back to the ground and was gently set down.

"Thank you." She said once her paws touched earth and the Psychic ability faded. "Welcome." The Gastly said with a bright blush forming under his eyes. He floated over to her and looked her over for injuries even if he doubted she gained any. "Are you alright?" He asked. Kailyn nodded with a slight embarrassed look. "I'm fine, only my pride was hurt." She admitted in a slight joking tone. The Flareon looked the male over then tilted her head as she realized she had seen him before. "Chris right? One of the fairly new ones on the ranch?"

Chris nodded with a pleased look, happy she remembered him. "Yes! I haven't been the most sociable yet though." His pleased look turned into embarrassment. Kailyn gently swayed her tail behind her and gave a soft chuckle. "It's alright, I haven't been one either and I've been here longer." There were only a handful of the others that Kailyn had gotten to know out of the slowly growing ranch so she was certainly not going to reprimand him for not being out going and knowing everyone. "How do you like the ranch so far?" She asked before she could trail off into awkwardness.

He bobbed in the air happily at the question. "I like it a lot. It's nice to have a few other ghost types to interact with." Gallifrey and Anariel were good companions, or at least when they wanted to play tricks on others. He wasn't so sure about Gail though. Kailyn nodded, knowing how having your type to interact with was more reassuring at times. She had gotten to know Kurama and Momotaro recently for the same reason. Though it was a surprise to know a fire/grass type, at least at first, since she didn't think it would mesh well.

"Why were you trying to get into the tree anyway?" Chris suddenly asked, having been wondering that ever since he saw her trying it. Kailyn suddenly jerked a bit then looked at Chris with an embarrassed look about her, ears going low. "I well, I got lost and I was trying to find my way back." She said in a quiet voice. Chris blinked in surprise before giving a smile. "I would be happy to show you back home." He offered, lightly blushing. She perked up at his offer and swayed her tail happily while giving a nod. "If you wouldn't mind."

"Not at all. It's this way." Chris said then started to float back to the ranch. They spent the walk back talking and getting to know one another better.
A little prequel to Kailyn and Chris' breeding to both give it some background to how they met and to boost their levels.
